Bookfair

In an effort to promote reading, as well as contribute to funding, the PTA hosts (2) Bookfairs per year, typically in fall for Christmas shopping, and one in the spring for summer reading.  An event that many parents and children look forward to, as well as teachers who are able to create “wish lists” for classroom books to be purchased by parents.

Gift Wrap Sales

The Gift Wrap fundraiser is the first activity of the year and is one of, if not the largest fund raising event we hold for the school year.  This event is a cornerstone to PTA funding.

Family Photos

This fall fundraiser has turned into a family tradition.  Most Christmas card photos will exhibit the photos from this fundraiser.  A local professional photographer arranges to take family photos at the beach or park.  It’s a wonderful start to the holiday season.

Jog-a-thon

Each year, Truman hosts a jog-a-thon, typically led by Marines from Camp Pendleton with a live DJ so that our kids can show their stamina and have fun while raising money for the school.  There have been a few years where it was not used to raise funds, but due to its huge popularity it was an event for physical education.

Parent Night Auction Event

In an effort to relieve children from having to go door to door for funding, Benedict PTA hosts a Parent’s Night that includes dinner, dancing, and a Silent and Live Auction. Typically held around Mardi gras time of the year, it’s a wonderful opportunity for parents to get to know one another, as well as bid on fabulous donations, all for the important reason to fund programs and enrichment at Truman.

Community Partners

Ralph’s and Albertson Grocery stores donate a portion of receipts based on parent spending.  Parents enroll by filling out an easy form that is tied back to their preferred customer card. Upon check-out, the portion allotted to the school is calculated and a check is sent at the end of the year with the accumulated total.  Fast, easy, and no work for the parent.

Bobcat Backer

Similar to a booster club, the Bobcat Backer is a parent that may not want to participate in fund raising events, but feels the additional programs are valuable and would like to contribute.  A check can be written, and 100% goes to funding the various programs supported by PTA.
